Looking to buy bins in the UK for a business, site or public space? IEG supplies commercial wheelie bins and waste containers from 240 litres up to 1280 litres, in plastic and steel, for general waste and recycling.
This guide shows what we sell, who each bin suits and how to get the right size first time. If you already know what you need, go straight to our full range of bins.
Which bins can I buy?
| Bin | Capacity | Material | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Two-wheeled plastic wheelie bins | 240L, 360L | HDPE | Small businesses, shops, offices and separated recycling |
| Steel wheelie bin | 240L | Galvanised steel | Sites that need extra strength or resistance to damage |
| Four-wheeled plastic container | 660L | HDPE | Busier premises with regular collections |
| SULO Citybac | 1100L | Heavy-duty plastic | Retail, commercial and industrial waste |
| Continental steel containers | 500L to 1280L | Steel | High-volume, heavy-use sites and local authorities |
Plastic or steel bins?
Plastic wheelie bins are lighter to move and usually cost less to buy, so they suit most small and medium-sized businesses. Steel containers cost more up front, but they are built for heavy use and hard handling, and damaged parts can often be repaired or refurbished rather than thrown away.
Bins for separating your waste
Most workplaces in England must already keep recycling, food waste and general waste apart, and firms with fewer than 10 full-time equivalent staff must do the same by 31 March 2027. Our Simpler Recycling guide for small businesses explains the rules, and our guide to recycling bins for small businesses covers what to buy.
Our 240L and 360L plastic bins come in black, brown, dark blue, green and yellow, which makes it easy to give each waste stream its own colour.
How to choose the right size
- Measure your space. Check the bin store, any gates and the route to the collection point.
- Ask your waste collector first. Check which bin sizes their vehicles can lift and how they want materials presented.
- Work out your weekly waste. Match capacity to how much you produce and how often it is collected.
Our commercial bin size guide goes through this in more detail.
