Major UK acquisition for US firm

Impact Environmental Group (IEG) has acquired Duraflex, the brand behind Chesterfield-based Container Components Europe.

It is the US firm’s second acquisition in the UK since acquiring Egbert H. Taylor & Co Ltd in November 2021.

The decision to purchase Duraflex is part of IEG’s global strategy to build a comprehensive waste solutions organisation that caters to a wide spectrum of the waste industry. IEG produces a broad range of products for the waste sector including welded and flat-pack bins, container lids, compactor parts, castors, roll-off container parts, tarps, trash cutes, compactor systems and services.

The acquisition of Duraflex will immediately grow IEG’s UK turnover to £25m, with the group aiming to rapidly grow its UK presence via product leadership and further acquisitions. As part of the IEG family, Duraflex will continue to trade under its recognised brand name and Egbert H. Taylor & Co Ltd will once again trade as Taylor.

Brendan Murphy, who is now IEG’s EMEA President, will lead both businesses.

On the acquisition Brendan comments: “IEG is a business that understands the power of UK manufacturing and the benefits of being associated with ‘Best of British’ manufacturers. The acquisition of Duraflex and Taylor, both of which have decades of experience in manufacturing for the waste sector, has created a strong UK manufacturing capacity and product portfolio, and the future of both brands looks extremely positive. As part of IEG Group, I expect to see significant growth over the next two years and we are already exploring new opportunities within Europe, the Middle East and Asia.”

Brian Beth, Chief Executive Officer of Impact Environment Group, adds: “We’re delighted to welcome both Duraflex and Taylor to the IEG family, and very much look forward to working closely with our customers by generating value through our international supply chains. This is an exciting chapter in both companies’ histories and represents the coming together of two market leaders. We’re really excited to continue growing our team and look forward to building our relationship with two longstanding and well-respected brands.”
